Is This What Crazy Looks Like?

The neighbours might be talking about me.  They might be saying, "We always thought she was a bit off but now we know for sure."  Yes that might be how it goes when they see me out on my walk with the pups.  Here's the story.

Lady has a bad leg.  It has been getting progressively worse.  She is an old girl of 14 years and the two medications she is on don't seem to be giving her much relief. In the last year we have shortened the length of her walk significantly.  Unfortunately this has shortened Maggie's walk also.  Might I add that Maggie needs her walks because she is a fatty.  But it is really hard to leave one behind.  Either way, one dog is missing out on something that they need.  Lately I have had to carry Lady home.  She would just stop walking and sit down on her sore leg.

So I decided to take the plunge into crazy and buy her a pet stroller.  We gave it a whirl in the house and she seemed quite happy in it.  Then Maggie wanted a turn and Lady followed along until it was her turn again.  Today we took it out for a spin around the neighbourhood.  I took Rob along in case I had troubles keeping Lady in it and managing Maggie on the leash at the same time.  Well it went super smooth.

I let her out three times to sniff around and feel like a real dog instead of a "baby".  On the third time out she just sat on the grass waiting for me to put her back in it.  She seems happy as a lark to just sit looking out and spend some time sniffing the air.

Now Maggie can enjoy some longer walks and Lady doesn't have to be left home alone away from the pack.  It's a win win!  I may be subject to some drive by mocking but I'm okay with that.  I don't mind looking a little bit cray cray if it makes a better life for my pups.  :)

Tiny Knitting

I took a break from knitting yet another baby blanket to knit a baby hat!  Look how tiny it is in newborn size!

The yarn is a wool, acrylic and nylon blend but is so soft that it almost feels like a cotton.  Lisa has a thing about wool being itchy so I know that she'll feel good about putting this on her little one's head.

Now I'm making one in the next size up... baby.

This tiny knitting meant a trip to the good yarn store to buy tiny needles.  This granny thing is a lot of fun!  I am thinking of making some in  the premie size to donate to our children's hospital.  A future project for my charity knitting.

To the Baby Department!

It has been a long time since I've hung out in the baby department.  I forgot how much I enjoy it.  I love the colours.  I love the patterns.  I love that everything is so tiny.  I've been picking up some essentials and some non essentials.

Washcloths and a towel and burping pads and bibs.

Some little spoons for a little mouth.

A little hat with a pair of booties and mittens.  Little hangers, some in tardis blue!  And just incase Little Blueberry enters the world with an immediate need to read a book... I'm gathering a library of sorts.

The world of baby has opened up for me!  While thrifting I found the Mickey Mouse dish for $1.  It was brand new and I love that it has three separate compartments that are nice and deep.  I also thrifted the Peter Rabbit book for $1.

The flannel burping pads and bibs are handmade.  I found them at the Butterdome Spring Craft sale.  All of those baby booths that I used to walk on past were fully investigated. It was so much fun!

Lisa is 17 weeks along and we find out at the end of the month what the gender is.  Then I'll be looking for baby clothes!  Yay!

Just Random ~ This and That

We are enjoying a "summer" day here in Alberta.  It feels so foreign.  It was still snowing two weeks ago.  I did catch myself complaining about how hot it was today.  LOL  I'm not really a hot weather lover and 29c is out of my comfort zone.

I've been knitting.  I finished the Tardis blue baby blanket.

Now I've started one in pink... just in case.  I am really loving this yarn from Estelle.  It is a 50% washable wool, 40% acrylic and 10% nylon.  It is so soft.

Rob celebrated a birthday.  This card from Lisa perfectly describes her feelings for him.  She will forever be a daddy's girl.

I'm feeling grateful to have these on my kitchen table.  Oh yellow.....

So I've been trying to move on into 2007 and actually use my iPhone.  Texting still seems long and tedious but I have found the perfect motivator.  My emoji!!  It's like stickers for the cell phone!

I have an update on my Canadian Geese.  Although I haven't been over yet this week, last time I checked in I could see that not only is this goose being left water, but some kind of grain also.  People are kind and it makes me realize how much our wild life and nature mean to many. You can see just how tiny her spot really is.  Imagine having cars parked on each side!

I'm starting to feel some scrappy mojo coming on.  It could be just in time for National Scrapbooking Day tomorrow.  I know I'm getting ready to play with paper when random items I see on my travels seem like the perfect scrapbooking supply.

Here we have:

~Paper doilies that were placed under our fancy ice-cream dishes at Joeys.  My family all know to quickly hand over the doily before food gets slopped on it.  And... why does everything taste better when it is served with a doily?

~The packaging from my new cell phone cover along with the bag it was given with.

~An advertisement postcard.  I'm loving the colours and paisley pattern.

Wishing you all a great weekend with some time to celebrate paper!
