The Green Button and Some White Stuff

Well, I have just finished off the last of my Paper Poppy kit and used the wonderful large green button!! I think this was my favourite item in the kit and so I saved it to use last! I mixed the last papers of the kit with some Jillibean that I had in the stash and was set to go for one last LO!! I have decided to make an album for my friend with some of my favourite LO's of her little fellow.

I used Sketch #66 from The Scrappiest.

Okay, now I am getting really cranky!!! It is snowing again!!! {sigh} Summer is bound to reach Alberta one of theses days!!! I think????

Not A Lot of Scrapping Going On!

Well, nothing much new on the scrapping front. I have been on a domestic tangent, as of late. There is something about a move that makes me go through my house and re-organize and get rid of unneeded stuff. I decided to invest in some new dishes and this led me to go through my kitchen and replace some bakeware and storage containers. Then this led to the linen closets! I will be so organized before I even move!!

So, the pups have been ignored and I have had Mo, my assistant, by my side!! {sigh} I don't know if he is bored or is being effected by the full moon, but he has been one crazy cat lately. Even the dogs are looking at me as if to say, "What is wrong with him?" He has been doing a lot of meowing and then these sudden sprints through the house where he ends by dropping himself to the floor, belly side up. So here is the evidence. ;)

This is Mo sitting on the very top of the highest kitchen cupboard.

.... having a little rest

.... attempting to get back down. Yes, I got sucked into the theatrics and ended up climbing up for a rescue. Diane later informed me that he could easily get down from that height. I guess I am more of a dog person and aware of their abilities, or lack of.

Here is Mo "helping" me go through the kitchen linen closet. I wonder how clean those tea towels really are after he sits on them. :( I just won't think about it. ;)

On a somewhat scrappy front, here is a photo that I took last week. I got the inspiration to take photos after the rain, after seeing some wonderful photography on Pearl's blog. I believe that Pearl titled her photos, "After the Rain". I think this would make an amazing title for this LO. I may be asking permission for this title usage, Pearl!! Rob played with the iphotos effects and blurred out the edges. I love the mix of the blur with the glisten of the rain.

Well, it looks like another yucky rainy weekend so maybe I'll get some scrapping in. I want to use up the last of my May Paper Poppy kit. June is just around the corner, and with June comes a new kit!! Yay!!!

Wishing everyone a wonderful and relaxing weekend with some sunshine too!!

Happy Scrapping!! Jen :)

Some "Queen Bee" Yummyness!

I finally got some scrapping done this long Canadian weekend. Yay to bad weather for the Victoria Day weekend! I do feel bad for any family who had any camping trips or outdoor activities planned. Brrr!! It was weather more suited to soup and lattes.

So here is my little Gussy. I snapped this photo of him last week as he was snoozing on his puppy bed. I laid on the floor to get a good shot at his level. I was really happy when I realized that it would look great with the Queen Bee colors that I had originally planned on using B&W photos for. They are beautiful papers but not really versatile for colourful photos. I also got a chance to use my new Martha border punch. These punches really give us lots of bang for our buck.

BTW, if you are looking for some colourful supplies, check out Aphra's sneak peeks at the Paper Poppy Kit Company. June's kit looks amazing and we will be treated with glimpses of it all week!

I used this week's sketch from Creative Scrappers, Sketch #105.

I thought I would share some photos of our condo under construction. Rob took these last week. It is an attached building. We are on the left side in the front view. They sure don't have lots of curb appeal from the front with all those garages, but it makes up for it in the back, slough side. Opps, I guess I am supposed to be calling it a "pond". ;) Last week we were down there and within minutes I saw, Sparrows, Red Winged Black Birds, Canadian Geese, Seagulls, and a Muskrat swimming! Okay, some of these are pretty ordinary but it is still nature and combined, I thought it was pretty amazing!! Yeah, it doesn't take much to make me happy! LOL

Hope everyone had a great weekend and gets in some scrappy time this week!

Happy Scrapping!!

Exciting News & Another LO

A very exciting piece of news in my scrappy world!! I finally decided to get brave and apply for a DT. I was so excited to learn yesterday that I was invited to design for Creative Scrappers!! You can see the new team here. So, I am still in shock and am excited and scared at the same time as this is a first for me. LOL I can't wait to get started!! I have to thank my bloggy friends who have been encouraging me to apply for a DT. You know who you guys are!!! :)

On the scrappy front, here is another LO done using my Paper Poppy kit! I still have enough for one more!! Yay!! I'm trying to discipline myself not to start another LO because I really need to clean my house. It is in a sad state as I am enjoying not having to have it in "showing" order! No one would buy this place if they saw it today!! ;)

This is my brother Andrew's family!! I was so happy to be able to scrap this photo of the three of them. :) I started this LO with the vision of it being yellows and blue. I soon realized that the yellow paper I had planned on using would not show up well against the white background. That is when I noticed the red paper from the Jillibean line! The pops of red are my favourite part of the LO!

I fancy cut the large butterfly. The small butterfly is a chipboard piece painted with distress crackle paint. I got the idea from one of Aphra's LO. First time using this product and I really liked the result.

I used this sketch by Julie Bonner.

Before leaving I just have to share this photo of this sweet little Sparrow!

I found him sitting on my back deck this morning. He is definitely young but has already lost his downy new baby look. I was worried that he was injured at first. After quite some time he did fly quite low to the ground and hide in one of the bushes. I'm hoping that he doesn't have a wing injury. The chances of survival for these little ones is never great. Needless to say, Mo will be kept inside today. Oh my, I don't even want to think of it. Tonight we will take a look and if we can find him and he appears in distress, Rob will end his suffering. I hate to see these little creatures die a slow and painful death. :( We brought an injured baby Robin to the emergency vet in downtown Edmonton, years ago, and they looked at me like I was a total crazy lady!!! :(

Hope everyone is having a great day and I'll keep you posted on my new adventure with the DT!!! :)

Happy Scrapping!! Jen

On Another Paper Poppy Scrapping Tangent

I've been having another fun scrappy day! Another LO done with the May Paper Poppy Kit. This is Rob with my friends little guy. I never mention his name because that is the deal.... I can post pictures of him on my blog as long as his name is not showing. I was so thrilled to be able to post him on the blog because he is one of my favourite subjects. BTW, his name is like the coolest little boy name ever!! You will notice a blurry section near the top butterfly where I have blurred out his name.

I love these pictures of Rob. As I was taking them, I just kept thinking that he will make a wonderful Grandpa one day. This is a phase of life that we are both looking forward to.

This LO was done for a challenge at the Paper Poppy where we had to use the butterfly stamp that came in the kit. The top butterfly was made by stamping on raw chipboard and then layering a punched butterfly on top. The large butterfly at the bottom was done by stamping the butterfly on a piece of grey card stock. I layered it with a punched butterfly and then cut a butterfly out of a piece of paper for the bottom layer. Hey, I even used the ribbon that came in the kit!

I used Liz's newest sketch #65 at The Scrappiest. I love the background element of this sketch.

I still have enough left of the kit for two more LO's. Yay!! This tangent will continue until I have used every last scrap!

I had an update on little Moose today. He is still with the family who runs the Dachshund Rescue . It isn't official but it looks like he will be staying with this awesome family. He has wiggled into all their hearts and the little daughters just love him. Apparently he had a very eventful day yesterday. He escaped the dog run. The first ever to accomplish this feat! We used to refer to him as Houdini. Next he chased a goat. Then he went into the horse pen and would not come out. Next was pooping and peeing in the house. He is still sleeping in the kennel area with the other pups and has just started sleeping in his crate at night. Once he adjusts to this (aka doesn't howl all night) he gets to sleep in the house in his crate. He is listed as "adoption pending" on the rescue site so people don't keep calling to try to adopt him. Yeah, Moose has a pretty awesome life and we are grateful for this. His new name is "Moosimo". The girls named him this I think. Too cute!! :)

Happy Scrapping!! Jen :)

Sketch Inspiration #124

One more LO using my Paper Poppy kit!! I loved this photo that my SIL Chantal took of my brother, Andrew and Baby Thomas. It was just perfect for the g.c.d. papers in the kit.

I love the mix of the earthy kraft paper and the shiny patterned papers. I did some fancy cutting for some of the butterflies and then my two Martha butterfly punches were perfect for this LO. The "Butterfly Kisses" and "Together" stickers are from a Yellow Bicycle sticker sheet. I picked it up because it had some good stickers for Project 365 and was pretty excited to see that it matched not only the colour but also the theme of this LO!

I used this newest sketch from Sketch Inspiration.

Well, it is a beautiful warm day here and I really should be out enjoying it but, my Paper Poppy kit is calling me from the studio!! LOL Hmmm What LO to do next!!

Just have to share one more hilarious photo of M0! We walked into the living room yesterday to find him sitting there on the sofa looking so human like! Actually I think he was just doing his laundry! ;)

Happy Scrapping!! Jen :)

Paper Poppy Sketch Challenge

I finally had a chance to cut into my May Paper Poppy kit! I started out using some of the Jillibean Papers in it because the colours went so well with this photo of my friend's little fellow. He is showing me his new play center that was in the midst of assembly. It was his birthday gift for his second birthday from his entire family.

I used the May sketch designed by Julie Bonner. My LO is very much inspired by Julie's take. I so love her style! I was really excited that she was the guest designer this month.

It was great to finally get to use one of the Maya Road kraft envelopes. The green alphas are from the April add-on kit. I cut the banner out of the brown patterned paper. It was easy to bend it into a wavy banner. I noticed that Jana Eubank places gems in between the triangles so I did the same with brads. The Prima flower was also inspired by Jana. She will take a store bought flower and add her own touch to make it original. I removed the flower center and made my own center by punching a 1 inch circle and using one of the button stickers. I love the look of text paper so I couldn't resist using it for my background. This decision made me lose out on using the yummy green pattern on the opposite side. Lucky for me, I found a different piece of green Jillibean in my stash.

Well, I still have lots of the kit left so I'll be back soon to share my next LO made with it.

Happy Scrapping!! Jen :)

Greetings to my Bloggy Friends

Hello!! I have been a bad blogger lately and have no LO's or scrappy news to share. :( Life has been kind of crazy around here with the selling of the house. It was finalized tonight after quite a few bumps along the way. However, there has been yet another last minute curve thrown at us so who knows!! On the condo front, after rushing to sell our house because of our condo being ready early, the builders have informed us that they are not as ahead as they had anticipated and so now we are looking at the end of July for possession. We will be homeless for a little time. :( The sad part is that the homeless time was when my sister Susan was expected to visit. We have postponed that visit which makes me sad.

So, last night I did what all scrappers do when life gets too sad, I went to the LSS for some retail therapy. ;) Some new Pink Paislee 365 Degrees and Queen Bee really helped. Then today my May Paper Poppy kit came and it is amazingly wonderful!! Aphra has a wonderful talent for mixing products! Hopefully I will have a chance tomorrow to start to play with it. I know that once I cut into the first sheet of paper, that I will go on a total scrappy tangent until the entire kit is gone!

So, all I have to share is some of my photos that I have been taking as of late.

This is my unexpected dinner guest! hee hee This is what happens when there is chicken on the table and you don't get to your seat really quickly!! Mo is just too much fun to have around.

Here is my zoo spending time in the backyard. Loving the action shot of my Maggie May.

Here is my friend's little guy. His newest thing is playing with water. Watching Rob help him with the watering can just made me think that Rob will be an awesome grandfather one day.

With all of our dejunking and downsizing, we brought the girls old dollhouse over. It was fun to watch him play. We even found a little note in the mail box of the dollhouse that my girls had made all those years ago. Too funny! It was addressed to:

The Dolls
1234
P.O. Box 123

And of course one last photo of a nature shot. Blooms from my neighbours tree!

Wishing you all lots of scrappy time this weekend!

Happy Scrapping!! Jen :)

Birthday Card

Just a quick post to share this birthday card that I made today. It is for my friend's little guy who just turned two, today! He is such a little cutie and just makes me smile!

I used scraps from the scrap drawer. That is what I love about card making. I use up some scraps, never cut into a new sheet of paper and end up creating something that is pretty. I used Sassafrass. I thought the vibrant colors would be fitting for a birthday greeting. I used my Cricut for the hat and inside greeting. I love adding a little decoration to the envelope when I am lucky enough to not have to mail it out.

A funny story goes with that little lady bug embellishment. Rob was at work and one of the ladies was delivered a bouquet of flowers. On the card were two of these wooden lady bugs. Rob asked if he could have one to bring home for me for my scrapping. LOL I'm not sure if that was an appropriate office request and what am I doing to this man that he is now seeing his world in terms of possible embellishments!?!! Anyway, thank you Shelly!! She is a very sweet lady. :)

I used sketch #61 from Inspirational Card Sketches.

Amy has an amazing flower tutorial up at Sketch Inspiration. You can check it out here.

Happy Scrapping!! Jen :)
