Sketch Inspiration #138

Just a quick post to share my latest creation. This is Diane looking less than happy. Not sure if it was the fact that her mother was trying to get yet another picture of her or she was just having one of those blah days. I love the idea of scrapping the every day events and not only documenting the best times. Life sure gives us the good times as well as the not so good times.

I used a bunch of different lines here. Why is it that the mixing of lines always gives the best results? I guess it adds an original element. The background sheet is from Studio Calico and the large floral die cuts are from Creative Imaginations. Gotta love that bargain bin!! ;) I used lots of scraps from my scrap drawer. I tied a scrap of quilting fabric around the alpha. Thanks Terry for giving me such a great stash of inspiration!! :)

Here is the sketch!

Tomorrow we get our condo and are no longer homeless!!! Yay!!! :) Our furniture is not coming out of storage until Monday so we will basically be camping out at the new place. We bought a blow up bed from Canadian Tire. As of Friday I will have a fridge and stove but no pots or eating equipment. hee hee So I am presently more of a "bag lady" with everything that I have here at my MIL's stored in bags. I feel like I have been living out of my purse for over a month. What a crazy summer it has been!

Feeling Shabby Vintage

I have two LO's to share today! I finally cut into my Echo Park "Life is Good"! Loving these fun papers which Susan and I both agree have a bit of a BG Nook & Pantry vibe to them. I gave this photo of my honey a vintage effect to tie into these papers. I also used some BG Basics here.
The sketch is this week's from The Scrappiest, sketch #77. Loved the circular element here. :) Here is the sketch!

This next LO is of me and Susan. Yes, we do sometimes refer to ourselves as "The Two Old Aunts". LOL When Chantal was pregnant with Thomas, we laughed at how old we would be as Thomas grew up!! We used to nickname Thomas, "Little Peanut", before he was born and laughed at what a great children's storybook idea it would be to tell the story of how old we would seem to him, compared to Chantal's sister who is still young. We said we could call it, "Little Peanut and the Two Old Aunts"!! ;) Yes, Susan and I are born story tellers, authors without a book!

I didn't use a sketch here but rather looked at the supplies that I planned on using as inspiration of how to put it together. I used Fancy Pants "Road Show" papers here and some embellishments from "The Girls' Paperie". I used a sheet of doily paper from BG to tone down the green sheet that I used.

Hope everyone is having a great day and enjoying these last few days before all the children return to the daily routine of school!

A New Creative Scrappers Sketch!

Kristine has the new sketch up at CS today. I just loved this one as lately I'm loving anything with a banner. Who would have thought it??? ;) Here is little Thomas looking just as cute as can be! What a sweet and happy smile. I just LOVE this photo of him. I have a 5x7 of it framed so I can enjoy it everyday.

I used the Echo Park line here "Summer Time". I really love the new Echo Park lines. I think that they plan on releasing a new line each month. I love the idea of this. Their lines are always so vibrant and fun.

Here is the sketch! Give it a go!! :)

Paper Poppy August Sketch Challenge

Well, it is a bit smokey here in Alberta these days. B.C. is having major forest fires (300 burning now) and as of yesterday afternoon, it all blew in our way. It was a sunny day yesterday, but soon turned to a very grey day. I feel very badly for the people in B.C and for anyone around who has breathing issues. Today it is more of an orange haze and a campfire smell. Where's the marshmellows?? So, days like this just seem like the perfect excuse to hide away and scrap!!

I loved scrapping these photos of my father-in-law's 85th birthday! He was happy to have his two sons with him. I used Cosmo Cricket "Delovely". I used patterned kraft paper by Jillibean Soup. I saw how Aphra used kraft as a background to these vibrant papers and loved the look. Remember how this time last year it was all about the "kraft" paper look. I still love this look!!! It works especially well for nature photos.

Here is the sketch at Paper Poppy. I made my border a bit wider to show off some of the fun borders in this line.

Hope everyone is having a very scrappy week!! I intend to do some more in the next few days because, as of next Thursday I am not longer homeless!!!! Yay for me!!!! (hee hee) The condo nightmare is finally coming to an end. We had our final walk through yesterday and it is looking good. I can't wait to get my house set up as it was early in May when I started packing it up. The home body in me will soon once again be a happy camper!! Who would have thought that having a nest was such an important part of life??? LOL

I've Been Scrapping!

Two LO's to share today! This first one is a picture of me and my sister, Susan. I finally cut into my MME "So Sophie". I never really noticed the beauty of this line until I saw Susan pick some up on one of our many trips to the LSS's. We had so much fun!! It was so perfect to find this "Sisters" title tag. The journaling on the LO is a verse that I saw at a Hallmark store on a decoration plaque. This just rang true for me. Susan and her family are moving out West next spring and I am so excited for this!! (Sorry about the glare on the photo of my LO. Too lazy to re-photograph.)

The LO is based on this scribbled sketch by me! ;) I included it this time, but as you can see I did deviate from the original. It basically served as a jumping off point.

This second LO is based on this week's sketch over at Sketch Inspiration. It's designed by Aphra Bolyer. Loved the challenge of this sketch although I did kinda take the easy way out with it. Nature photos are still one of my favourite subjects. I used some more of my October Afternoon papers on this one.

Here is the sketch!

Hope you are all having a great week with some time left over for scrapping. Happy Scrapping!! Jen :)

Sometimes It's a Struggle

Why is it that some LO's almost put themselves together, while others are a total fight and struggle. This was one of those LO's. I had to do a lot of dismantling and re-doing. I had one of those embellishments clusters going on that wasn't quite so good and I kept adding more to try to get it to look good but eventually it just looked like embellishment overkill. Anyway, the end result is not quite the best composition but it will do. ;) How can this happen on a LO of Thomas, while looking at that cute little face???? LOL We have our tickets booked for Montreal this October and I just can't wait to finally get to meet this little guy! :)

I used up the last of my June Paper Poppy kit and this sketch by Kristine Davidson.

Bling it On!

I have been getting lots of scrapping done and have been having so much fun using up my June Paper Poppy kit! It was a very challenging kit for me to work with. Very vibrant and lots of sparkle and bling. I LOVE the fact that I would never be drawn to purchase these products at the LSS and yet love the finished product! Gotta love the fun of a kit!!

This is a photo of me and Susan in Banff. I love the look of the B&W photo with these vibrant papers. I used Sketch #136 from Sketch Inspiration. Hey, Aphra is going to be the guest sketch artist next week! Can't wait to see the sketch!

This next LO is of me and Susan having our pedicure. We joked that we were both going to be a princess for the week! I crumpled and pleated a doily to make the cameo flower. Bling and sparkly letters just seemed perfect for this LO! This is a sketch from The Scrappiest. Not sure what number but it was in July.

I have enough of my kit left for one more LO
!! Other lines that are calling my name to be pulled from the stash are, MME "So Sophie", Echo Park "Life is Good" and Sassafrass Lass "Indie Girl". All so yummy!!!

Before going I just have to share this photo that I took today of my Father-in-Law. Although he is quite blind from Macular Degeneration, he is the master at getting complicated knots out of yarn! Most of it is done by feel and also a lot of patience! He is a wonderful man who I always feel very blessed to have in my life!

My Girls

I was so excited to have a photo of my girls to scrap!! It is so rare that they let me get a photo, but there was no way that they could refuse their Aunt Susan's request!! hee hee Lisa was just back from a lake trip and is looking a little "outdoorsy" but it is all good!!!

I used more of my Paper Poppy kit and the colours went really well with the vintage effect I used on this photo. This is based on another one of my scribbled sketches but I changed it up as I went along.

Rob and I went walking last night and I though I would share some photos that I took along the way.

Wild flowers are always amazing to me! Some see them as weeds, but not me. So intricate and beautifully delicate.

These rabbits are mother and child we think. Mom ran away from her baby to try to distract us from her young, as we approached. The little one was hiding on the hill with its long ears folded down. Too cute.

Apples on my MILS condo complex. Ready for picking in a while.

My MILS potted flowers. Don't have any of my own this year so I have to take photos of other people's!! LOL

Here is the sketch!! So very original and so many great takes.

Hope you all have a great Sunday!! Happy Scrapping!! Jen :)
