I'm a Guest

Today I have the honor of being the guest designer at Creative Scrappers!  Here is what I created using "Random"!!  It is the first LO that I created with the line and it was so awesome to have so much goodness to choose from.

I wanted to document Lisa's love of fancy shoes.  Girly shoes just make this girl happy.  :)

Here is the amazing sketch.  So many laying possibilities.

Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday with a little time left over for scrapping. It is beautiful here today so we just might go and mill around outside and try to capture some fall photographs.  The foliage is turning beautiful shades of fall these days.

Happy Scrapping!! Jen :)

Yellow

I'm playing along again with Scrap it With a Song!  Love how these challenges make me really think about titles and seem to get me journaling more of a story!  Up this week, an amazing song by Coldplay ~ Yellow.  It took me lots of thinking time to come up with something other than a monochromatic yellow LO.  Having said that, I am a yellow fan so this could have been a successful option.  I couldn't resist using a yellow background though.  ;)

The title "Something Beautiful" is in the lyrics.  I also added a sentence to my journaling from the song.  "You know I love you so."  This is my little Lisa at four.  We found this photo in one of her dresser drawers last Saturday as we were helping her move out.  I LOVE this photo even if her head is kind of cropped off.  I decided to use this photo to document her growing up and the date she moved away from home at.  This challenge worked in perfectly!

Still playing with Crate's "Random".  I've pretty much used up the collection.  I might be able to get one more LO and then some cards or mix it in with other lines.  I have totally enjoyed playing with this vibrant palette and this line seems to bring out the over embellished junked up look that I so crave.  Hmm    Maybe next up I'll have to try to create something a little more on the minimal side.

I used this linear sketch from KesiArt.

Fall Stuff

It is a beautiful crisp and sunny fall day here!  Lots of little signs of fall showing up from chilly mornings to fading flowers.  I'm doing some typical fall stuff too.

Some fall cleaning.  I skipped the spring cleaning this year so there is lots to be done and to be put in order.

Fall always puts me in the mood for stitching.  Susan came over today for crafty Tuesday and we stitched the day away.  I am making some progress on my newest sampler.  Susan is doing the same pattern too so it is really fun to work on together.

I have a new fall mug to sip warm tea from.  Rob brought me home this surprise yesterday to add to my Starbuck's mug collection.  I am a total fan of the fall palette so I am loving this mug.  One day I'll have to do a LO or at least a post on my Starbuck's mugs.

Some scrapping might be done soon.  I hope you are having a wonderful fall day, wherever you are!

Happy Scrapping!!  Jen :)

Scrap it with a Song

For the first time ever I am playing along with Scrap it with a Song.  What a terrific way to have some more original titles on my LO's and get more of the story down.  It is a fun challenge to try to figure out how a specific song ties into a photograph and story to tell.  This week it was "Fix You" by Coldplay.  It inspired me to tell the story of my latest house guest.  I am so glad that I took photographs of this sweet girl.

The title is taken from the lyrics as well as the phrase, "guide you home" in my journaling.  The song's overall message of trying to fix someone in need spoke to me about how I tend to be with wayward animals.  Life would be so much easier if I could just walk on by.  I think this is the most journaling that I have ever done on a LO.  I am grateful for my typewriter that allows me to record so much of the story in a small space.

I used more goodies from the "Random" line by Crate.  Pure yumminess!

Happy Scrapping!!  Jen :)

Random

I finally found a bit of mojo last night and got to scrapping.  Playing with some of the amazing new Crate line, "Random".  Crate sure has been hitting it out of the ballpark with their last couple of releases!

Here is Bolt, a sweet little Chihuahua girly.  She belongs to Diane's best friend and Diane minded her a few weekends ago.  Bolt came over for a play date with the pups and I got a chance to photograph a new muse.  Animals are one of my favourite things to photograph but I have to admit that fitting Bolt's big ears into a close up shot was a challenge. hee hee

I used Shimelle's newest sketch out this week.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

A Work in Progress

Urghhh!!  Knitting is hard..... for me, anyway.  I spent a good chunk of the day working on Lady's sweater and it is almost finished.  There is a lot of new knitting moves for me in this pattern and I can tell you that this sweater would not be winning any ribbons at the Country Fair. ;)  On the plus side, I have learned some new techniques, it fits Lady well and looks like it will be both warm and comfortable.  :)  If Lady moves really fast, nobody will notice all of the knitting mistakes. ;)

I snapped a few photos this afternoon when I tried it on her for size.

"Why did she have to knit me the ugly sweater?  Why not Gus or Maggie?"

"I'm so embarrassed.  This is humiliating."

"Seriously?  Still taking pictures!!"

"Just look away!"

"I am so getting picked on by the neighbourhood dogs."

This little house guest left today.

I am sad to see her leave as she is one very sweet girl.  A co-worker of Rob's has taken her to be a farm cat.  She will have other cats with her and even some dogs.  She had finally warmed up to my pack and would even swat at them in a playful way.  I hope she has a good cat life.  I am still hoping that someone will claim her but there has been no word so far.  :(  She is such a cutie that I can't imagine her not being missed.

I have not been very creative lately on the scrappy front.   Hopefully I'll have something scrappy to share somewhat soon!

Happy Scrapping!!  Jen :)

Winner Winner!!

We have a winner for my 100 Followers Giveaway!!

Here is the high tech bowl of names.

The Big Guy reaches in for the lucky one!

and.....

Congratulations Margie!!  Please email me at shawja417@gmail.com with your address so I can get your parcel in the mail!  It is all wrapped and ready to go!  :)

On to other news, I have been spending the last two days with this little house guest!

Isn't she just beautiful!  We are trying to find out where she belongs or at least a new home.  I wish I could keep her but Rob is allergic.  :(  We thought we had found her owner today when a lady called the RCMP to report a female calico missing.  Rob came home and picked her up to bring her to the office but she was not this ladies cat.  I was so disappointed.  She doesn't like my trio of pups.  They were all doing great with her however, my lovely Lady has decided that kitty is taking up too much of my love so she now barks and chases kitty out of the room.   Who would have thought that shy Lady would be the tyrant!  hee hee

100 Followers Giveaway!!

Well what a happy day it is to realize that I have hit the 100 Followers mark!!  It has been less than two years since I began this blogging adventure and I never dreamed of the day that I would have 100 followers!!  Yay!!  So of course a giveaway to thank all of my wonderful readers is in order!!

Before we get to the details, I wanted to share what I have been up to lately.  Not much scrapping going on but my knitting needles have been clinking away.  I am attempting to knit my little Lady a dog sweater for the winter!

URGH!!!  Who knew that paw holes could be so hard??  The pattern I am following is clearly for a more advanced knitter but I am plugging away.  One Google search to learn how to increase into a purl and a call to my mother for clarification on instructions has me staying afloat.  ;)  If I am successful, I have the yarn bought to make sweaters for Maggie and Gus too!  Maggie will hate it and I will likely just get it on her for a photo shoot. :(  Gus will be indifferent.  He does love wearing t-shirts!

This is what the end product should look like.

Okay back to the giveaway.  Just wanted to create a bit of suspense there.... or maybe help your "skimming while reading" skills!  ;)  I wanted this giveaway to be a good one so I am giving away a collection package of the new Echo Park "Happy Days" line!!!  Along with this I have included some card stock and an an assortment of embellishments.  Have a look!

So all you have to do to be in the running is leave me a comment on this post.  I will randomly draw a name on Friday after dinner.  As usual,  I can only offer this to my North American friends.  So sorry to all of my international readers but the postage rates are just crazy. :(

Good luck to all!  Happy Scrapping!!  :)

Vintage

A quick share today with another LO created with Cosmo Cricket's "Odds and Ends".   Totally enjoying the vintage feel of this line.  Perfect to document the story of this little ornament.   I kept this LO quite simple as I wanted the focus to be on the photo.

I used this week's sketch out by Shimelle.   I thought it would be the perfect sketch to break out my mad splattering skills but alas the paper was a bit too busy for added splatters. :(

On an unrelated note, I have reached a totally new level of "crazy dog lady".  You know those old women that wear clothes that look like their dog's fur markings?  Yeah. :(  Rob and I went shopping at Eddie Bauer's today and I fell in love with this sweater and bought it.

Then we came home and decided to take the pups for a walk.  It is still chilly out so I put on said new sweater.  Not too far into the walk I looked down at Lady and realized why that sweater gave me such a good feeling.  Notice any similarities?  hee hee

Odds and Ends

We are getting our first taste of fall.  The children in my neighbourhood went back to school yesterday.  When I was out during the noon hour yesterday, walking the pups,  I could hear the voices and sounds of play coming from the school which is quite a few blocks away.  It is a sound I love!  I did lunch supervision for 6 years while my girls were in school.  Oh the smell of 30 some odd lunches being opened up in one small classroom, walking the yard in all kinds of weather and mediating squabbles.  Weird to think that I actually enjoyed it most days.

Around here the house it is feeling like we are getting into fall mode too.

Sunflowers are in the kitchen,

Knitting hats for charity has resumed,

and today I even ventured into the kitchen to bake a cake.

Wow, that almost never happens anymore.  I think it was a phone conversation with Susan that sparked the interest.  My boxed cake mix will not compare to her home baked cherry pie, as in picking cherries off the tree!!!  Now that is a pioneer woman!

On the scrappy front, I have decided to do an 8.5 x 11 album about me!  Not really about me per say but, rather things I like and what I think.  Here is my first LO for it.

A simple fact that I like this brand of wool to knit with.   The Cosmo Cricket "Odds and Ends" line was perfect!  I created the title by cutting a banner out of the wool packaging.  I finally used my new typewriter and was happy about how much journaling I was able to fit in a small spot.  I did some machine sewing and left some long messy threads in true Marcy Penner fashion!

Here is the sketch I used from Page Maps!

In other scrappy news, I think I just might start to do a bit of this.....

I picked up these acrylic paints on sale at Michaels for $0.41 each.  Why pay $6 for the real Sprinklers & Mr. Huey?  Susan just waters her acrylic down and splatters away.  Oh so random and uncontrolled!  It goes against all my scrappy practices but I'm kind of excited about it!  :)

Wishing you all sunny crispy autumn days and cozy nights!!  Happy Scrapping!!  Jen :)
